It’s the summer of 1964 and
even in Erie, Pennsylvania, rock
and roll is here to stay. Nobody
knows that better than Guy
Patterson, appliance salesman and
drummer for The Wonders, a
local rock band whose popular
song, “That Thing You Do!,” is
about to change life forever.

Although their first club
booking is in a spaghetti joint
near the Erie airport, it isn’t long
before The. Wonders land a
recording contract, a state fair
tour and a trip to Hollywood.
And as their signature song
rockets to the top of the charts,
The Wonders, embark on . a
humorous and surprising journey
where they not only get a taste of
fame, but an extraordinary look at
the halcyon days of rock and roll.
Two-time Academy Award
winner Tom Hanks makes his
directional debut on THAT
THING YOU DO!, a comedy
which he also. The film stars a
talented group of newcomers as
the Wonders, including Tom
Everett Scott as Guy, Johnathon
Schacch as Jimmy, Steve Zahn
as Lenny and Ethan Embry as the
Crime Prevention and Safety Programs

The Wonders, the movie’s
soundtrack features wall-to-wall
original music evoking the rock
bands and girl groups of the early
19605, including a selection of
songs from the Play-Tone
“artists” such as Freddy
Frederickson, Diane Dane, The
Chantrellines and The Saturn S.
Both Hanks and producer Gary
Goctzman contributed to the

Salem, Massachusetts, 1692.
Perched on the edge of a
continent is a community
dedicated to the service of God:
Several teenage girls, stifled by
the crushing piety of their elders
dance naked in the woods. One
girl, Abigail Williams, her
innocence lost in the bed of John
Proctor, a married farmer, drinks
a charms to kill his wife.
And, suddenly, the Devil is
loose in Salem. The girls are
discovered and, spurred on by
their terrified accusations, the
entire village is consumed by
cries of witchcraft.
