LONDONDERRY, N.H.- A
six week national campaign
beginning this month by
Stonylield Farm Yogurt will give
environmentally concerned
students a chance to encourage
congress to stop cutting funds
needed to protect and restore the
planet. The FLIP YOUR LID
campaign, bunched by the New
Hampshire based makers of all
natural yogurt, will carry the
following message on the lids of
five million Stonyfield Farm
Yogurt cups: Congress, Have
You Flipped Your Lids?
Said Stony field Farm
President/ CEO Gary Hirshberg,
a lifelong environmental activist,
"Congress has flipped its lid
when it comes to the
environment. Cutting funds for
programs that protect the earth is
short sighted and, in the long
run, will cost us more. FLIP
YOUR LID tells Congress that
it's not just the activists who are
concerned about the environment.
It's students, consumers, and the
business community as well."
Onc side of the yogurt lid
reads: "The planet is everyone's

ready-made letter to Congress that
simply needs to be signed and
sent. It says: "Government
should be more efficient, but not
at the cost of a polluted planet. I
don't support cuts in
environmental funding for they
deny our children their rights to a
healthy Earth. Please vote on
behalf of the environment." A
toll-free line (1-800-801-0222)
supplies information and the
names of congress members.
The FLIP YOUR LID yogurt
cups will be available in college
dining facilities, supermarkets,
and health food stores.
Environmental groups
including The Sierra Club,
Greenpeace, and the Wilderness
Society are supporting FLIP
YOUR LID. The Timberland
Company, Reebok, Ben &
Jerry's, The Body Shop, and the
Nature Company are several of
the corporate supporters.
