Thursday, March Loose change, anyone?sTcihmeedLTe by Kyra Kindon Collegian Staff The Omicron Delta Kappa honor society is sponsoring a fundraiser called Wile 0' Pennies. Proceeds will benefit the Mercy Center for Women of Erie. Cans for donations can be found at the Rub Desk and in the library for donations. The drive kicked off March 11 and will continue for three to four weeks. The Mercy Center, run by the Sisters of Mercy, provides multiple services for women and children in the Erie area. "Currently, there are 12 children and their mothers living at the shelter. There is room for a total of 27 people," said Sister Maryanne Bader. The two main services that the center has to offer are transitional housing, usually six months to a year, and advocacy and support services. The Mercy Center also offers educational services. Some classes discuss self-esteem and life management. In addition, it offers support programs, enrichment programs, and addictive relationship programs. On-site child care is also available. The Mercy Center, founded by the Sisters of Mercy, is located on East 27 St. and accepts donations.
