Last Saturday, the Behrend
men's soccer team obliterated
Hilbert College by a final score
of 14-0. In the win, the Lions
put on a beautiful display of
soccer.
Not only did the defense hold
strong to preserve the shutout,
but Behrend's offense exploded
through the skill of their great
versatility.
"We knew that we were going
up against a team that wasn't
very difficult and we handled it
with maturity. We put the game
away early and that was good,"
said Head Coach Dan Perritano.
"It felt good to get everyone
involved," commented Mike
Gullo.
Jay Hodkinson crawled out of
the wood work and lit up the
score board for four of Behrend’s
14 goals.
Co-captain Sean Blank said of
Hodkinson's performance, "Jay is
a machine."
"Jay was in the zone," said
Lion goalkeeper Phil Gouker.
Blank and Chris Heh played
excellent offensive games, as
each slipped two shots between
the pipes. Ryan Scheck, Steve
Gibbs, Mark Jackson, Pat
Kairys, Chris Nelson, and Ryan
Croyle each hopped on the
scoring wagon to notch a goal.
The Lions ended their season
Tuesday as they traveled to

"The Allegheny game
resemoled our whole season. We
were so close, put we just
couldn't stretch that extra inch to
pull through and come out on
top," said Hodkinson.
Ryan Schenck echoed
Hodkinson's words by saying,
"We've improved over last year,
but we've lost a lot of close
games."
"We have a bunch of new
guys, and that will enable us to
remain competitive," said Coach
Perritano on the outlook of next
season.
Assistant Coach Rick Nese
agreed with Perritano, "We played
well in times during the year, but
we also had some disappointing
moments. We should be back and
ready to go for next year."
