might have helped set OJ. free.
The jurors requested a reading of
Park's testimony near the end of
their deliberations.
Lastly presented in my case,
but certainly not the last of the
incriminating evidence, are the
bloody gloves. Perhaps jurors
were swayed by the fact that the
soaked, shrunken gloves could
not fit perfectly onto OJ.'s hands
over latex surgical gloves. Semi
understandable. That pair of
gloves, however, was one of only
two hundred of its kind in
existence. Sales receipts verify
that Nicole herself purchased the
gloves a few years ago, and
pictures from pro-football games
show them on OJ.'s hands. OJ.
was unable to account for the
gloves.
Having presented the basis of
my assumption of guilt, the
question of, "How?'' is now even
more baffling. Extensive
searches have been made by
headline-hungry journalists
worldwide in search of other
murder suspects; it became
obvious months ago that they
weren't going to find one.
At a press conference following
the verdict, the prosecution
appeared devastated. Darden
broke down and had to leave.
"June 13, 1994 was the worst
nightmare of my life. This is the
second," said Ronald Goldman's
tearful father.

The District Attorney, Gil
Garcetti, was asked if there were
plans to restart the investigation
from square one, in search of
another suspect. Garcetti was
flabbergasted. As far as the
prosecution team is concerned,
the murderer was found a year
ago.
I'm perhaps just as
dumbfounded. Why did those 12
men and women ignore every
ounce of evidence and decide to
set a guilty man free? Possibly
the race card that, due to lack of
real substantial evidence, Johnnie
Cochran touted so heavily. Sure,
Fuhrman didn't like black people.
Sure, he lied on the witness
stand. Yes, he gave police
officers a horrible name. But it
is not physically possible for so
much concrete evidence against
one man to have been fabricated
or planted. From the onset, I
didn't think the fact that the jury
was predominantly black would
in the least way affect the
outcome of the case. I thought
the jurors would be able to
separate fact from emotion and
look at all the evidence
objectively. Maybe I was wrong.
Maybe the jury imagined a wide
ranging conspiracy within the
racist LAPD to place blame upon
a black man. Maybe they just
wanted to go home. For
whatever reason, the jury in the
Simpson case shirked what was
one of the greatest
responsibilities, and committed a
judicial travesty, the likes of
which I can only pray will go
unequaled.

On Tuesday, students dining
in Dobbins Hall woe treated to a
true "old-fashioned” meal as the
Gazebo was transformed into a
medieval castle, complete with
banners, king and queen, and an
executioner to keep people in
line.
The Medieval Festival took
place during dinner hours and was
prompted by the concert given by
Cecilia's Circle, who perform
music and songs from the
Baroque era. Student Affairs
scheduled the concert and
suggested a theme dinner to go
along with it. Once the idea was
in motion, "Cindi Pander took
ownership,” said Ed Mulfinger,
manager of Food and Housing.
Panda: put together the costumes
and banners, and with the help of
students, painted the castle's
scenery.
In addition to presiding
monarches, King Jim Miller and
Queen Theresa Freeman, there
were guards posted outside the
castle, a jester and ladies-in
waiting dining with the guests,
and of course, the executioner.
The whole mood was festive,
especially for brightly clad jester
Missy Reedy. The role "was
fun,” she said, "but people kept
making fun of my shoes."
A different mood settled on
Dobbins Hall later that evening

as members of Cecilia’s Circle
took to the stage at eight o'clock.
Despite the mildly small
turnout, it was a grand
performance. Ranging from
Gregorian Chant to Instrumental,
the pieces had one common tie -
each was composed by a woman.
The powerful voice of soprano
Janet Youngdahl filled the
Gazebo. Accompanied by Vivian
Montgomery (harpsichord), Julie
Andrijeski (baroque violin), and
Ann Marie Morgan (viola da
gamba/baroque cello), Youngdahl
coveyed both the sadness and
humor in the songs. In addition,
the Instrumentals were
masterfully done, especially the
sonata by Elisabeth Jacquet de la
Guerre, a piece that draws you in
with its gentle beginning then
sweeps you away with its rapid
end.
Even for those who weren't big
fans of classical music (like
myself), this concert was truly an
enjoyable experience.
In addition, if you missed the
Medieval Festival, the next
theme dinner is Halloween Fright
Night on October 31, where
students are invited to come in
costume if they wish; and if
you'd like to check out music
along the same line as Cecilia’s
Circle, the Logan Wintergarden
Music at Noon Series is hosting
the Modem Mandolin Quartet on
Friday, October 6, at noon in the
Wintergarden.

Most females applaud her and
most males are afraid. By now,
just about everyone has heard and
formed some opinion on Alanis
Morissette and her debut song
"You Oughta Know.” This song
has been overrequested and
overplayed since it came out this
summer, but you have to admit
that it's a great, powerful song
with killer lyrics.
But "You Oughta Know" is
just a taste of the variety of
music on the debut album
"Jagged Little Pill." Morissette
has a very distinct voice and
sound of music. There are twelve
songs on the album, plus another
playing of "You Oughta Know"
at the end with an added song
after thaL
All I can say is that she must
really be pissed off and disgusted
with the male race because this
album doesn't say much for men.
One song, "Perfect” states how
she'll only have a man if he is
flawless. Other great, catchy
songs include "All I Really
Want," "Hand in My Pocket,"
and "Head Over Feet." I think
this album is really catching on,
especially among females. I hear
it being played at least once a day
in the apartment quad. Its about
time a female artist stands up and
says what she really wants to
through her music.
