We went to check the place out
for dinner. Our waitress was
prompt and friendly (even though
she was a Cleveland Brown's
fan). Their menu offers your
typical bar/restaurant selections.
Appetizers include wings and
fried foods, and also fried calamari
(squid). Also on the menu are a
variety of salads for the health
conscious, sandwiches which
include an order of fries, and
burgers. There is also a dinner

Our next lists are on music.

selection for those with a larger
appetite. The food prices are
fairly reasonable, and the quality
is good.
But Calamari's isn't just about
food. According to owner Pat
Artise, Calamari's has "more to
offer than just a restaurant bar,"
we're also a nightclub.”
Actually, it has three different
bars. There is one in the
restaurant section called

restaurant which also has a pool
table, and one connected to the
restaurant called Squid Row.
Squid Row is the dance club part
of Calamari's. It has a lighted
stage, mirrors, and even a dart
board at the other end. [The band
Jake's Blues will be playing there
this Friday starting at 7:00 pm.]
There is also an outside part to
Calamari's. It is a huge wooden
deck where people can go to

Bush's release "Sixteen Stone"
is a powerful display of rage
against the evils of our society as
it exists. The British quartet is
headed by the biting vocals and
ripping guitar licks of leader
Gavin Rossdale who's vocals are
a relevant and sarcastic
bombardment of a variety of
topics for ex-girlfriends to zodiac
predictions. The music itself has
a melodic attractiveness to it and
a style which is a mixture of
Rage Against the Machine and
British punk bands of the eighties
and early nineties.
The vocals on this release are a
wake-up call to a society gone
numb. One of the songs
"Comedown" contains a line
which I think everyone can
identify with: "When you beg
you just complain; more I come,
more I try' police are paranoid, so
am I." This problem of
nonconformity due to our specific
age group and reputation is one

fresh air. And starting in May,
there will be live boxing from
the deck once a month.
Not only does Calamari's offer
a wide variety of food, drinks and
atmospheres, but also a wide
variety of people. On any given
night you can see college
students, yuppies or just people
having anight out on the town.
Calamari's has more to offer
than your typical bar.
that most all of us face on a
regular basis.
Their song "Everything Zen” is
a outright satire of tabloid
magazines and psychic friends
networks. It includes lines like
"Should I fly to Los Angelos,
find my asshole brother”, and "I
don't believe that Elvis is dead"
which show the pure lunacy of
modem tabloid journalism (my
apologies to those freaks who
actually believe that Elvis is
alive).
The music on this album is as
pure and sporadic as the lyrics
themselves. It's a combination
of rage and grace that works well
to establish a melody that is both
appealing and curious. It draws
you in and holds your attention
through seemingly effortless
transitions from metallic
harmonies and back again.
To conclude, Bush's new
album "Sixteen Stone” is an all
around good CD. I recommend
anyone who is into alternative
music to at least give it a chance,
it's sure to prove worth the
money.
