Rehearsals for the play began February 9. Mr. Elliot commented, “I am very excited about working with this very talented and diverse group of actors. Some are newcomers to the Studio Theater Stage, and some will be familiar to our audiences, which makes it that much more fun.” The play revolves around four main characters. Basically, there are two couples, but each individual thinks their significant other has betrayed them. While everything seems to be in a hilarious state of confusion, the audience will constantly be held in suspense. Mr. Elliot said he has always wanted to do a Moliere farce. “This seemed the right time, place, and group of performers,” he said. The cast for the play is as follows: Gorgibus played by Chris Ruch (Found a Peanut, fall 1994); Celie played by Abigail Greenburg; Lelie played by David Stoehr; Gros-Rene played by David Bridi; Sganarelle played by Matt MilfAth* fittOllOMllA'a uitfa FREE Courtesy of played by Ericha Hagenbuch (Vital Signs, Spring 1994; Scapino, fall 1993; On the Verge, Spring 1992); Villebrequin played by Brian Kierzek; Celie* s companion played by Kanova Johnson (Found a Peanut, fall 1994; Scapino, fall 1993); and the wife’s relative played by Kim Mcllwain. Theater 189 will begin building the set and working on the lighting on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Their goal is to capture the flavor of a 17th Century stage. The platform will be mostly an open area with five places to enter. The story takes place in residential park, so the set needs to be an open, public area. Once decorated with greenery, the stage should take on an old-fashioned look. Although the character’s costumes haven’t been decided yet, measurements for them have been taken. The cast will be wearing brightly colored, comfortable clothes. Answer’s to last week’s puzzle. Page 13
