"Timecop:" A blast to the future by John Hafher CelUg mm Staff The musefe-bound action and adventure superstar with the unmistakable French accent has done it again. Of course, I am referring to Jean-Claude Van Damme. His latest movie, "Timecop," is a must-see for those who crave the fast-pace action and intense combat characteristic of his films. Van Damme plays Max Walker, a well-respected and no-nonsense cop with a reputation for always getting his man. As a member of the Time Enforcement Commission (TEC), an elite and futuristic police force. Walker's job is to bring to justice those people who abuse the future's newest invention time travel. Although the thought of going back in time to correct past mistakes sounds appealing, it becomes obvious from the start that time travel has the potential for social chaos. Changing even the slightest deoil of the past can result in disastrous consequences. Nonetheless, there are many who see time travel as a means of personal profit and financial gain, and it is Walker who puts an end to their selfish ambitions in his usual brutal fashion. Time travel does prove to have at least one good quality; it allows Walker to go back and prevent his wife's death. "Timecop" combines the typical Van Damme effects and action with a futuristic thrill. Give this latest smash a try.
