Chalk one u bj Julie Stocker CotUgim Staff Despite the disappointing cancelation of the season home opener, the Penn State-Behrend women's club soccer team picked up its first victory at Allegheny College Tuesday. Led by freshman Lara Herrmann's opening goal and two assists, Behrend dominated the game with 29 shots on goal and finished with a 4-1 victory. The Lady Lions distributed the goals evenly between the two halves of play and four players. After Herrmann set the pace with ha goal 12 minutes into the game, Christina Muivin hit the back of the net to allow Behrend a 2-0 lead at halftime. Kristin Costello drove one home midway through the second half, and Bridgette Jesek scored the fourth and final goal. Forward Fabiene Duchini chalked up an assist "We played exactly the way I expected we would. Very well," said coach Rick Nese. Behrend's defense held a shutout until midway through the second half. Co-captain Becky Eckendorf had the hot hands stopping six Gator shots. Carl Campbell in CotUgian Staff Since defeating Laßoche, the Behrend men’s soccer team has failed to score a victory in three games. The loses came against Westminster (2-0), St. John Fisher (1-0), and Nazareth (3-1). Sean Blank was the only scorer in the three games. With these loses, Behrend’s record falls to 1- 5-1. Coach Dan Perritano refused to make excuses for his team. “We’re not consistent game to game,’’ he said, “and that’s how we’re going to have to perform.” “We need some success for our confidence to build,” he added. Sean Tucker agreed with Perritano’s assessment “We can’t keep changing our strategies. We need to make our opponents change theirs. We are coming together better and looking more like a team. We just need to get organized.” Senior Jason Freer said, “We played hard but the acme had them winning. The outcome has not Shown our effort and that’s disappointing.” He added, “We need to keep our composure and play within ourselves and as a team.
