This past weekend the Penn
State-Behiend men's tennis team
competed in the Great Lakes
Small College Championships
held at the Westwood Raquet
Club in Erie.
The event featured eight NCAA
Division 111 schools including
Grove City, Nazareth, Fredonia,
Carnegie Mellon, John Carroll,
Elmira and Thiel
The Lions garnered two
championships throughout the
event, both coming off the
capable racket of much-improved
junior Karl Van Tassel.

Saturday, defeated a Grove City
player to earn a well deserved
singles victory in the fourth
singles flight
Van Tassel came back strong
on Sunday to edge CMU in the
shootout singles competition.
Junior Paul Young, sophomore
Brian Foht, and freshman Tim
McCaan all bowed out in the
semifinals of their respective
singles flight
Young and Foht also advanced
to the finals in the third flight
doubles draw, falling to John
Carroll in the championship
match.
