Tempus Deadline: The final deadline for
submissions to Tempus, the campus literary
magazine, is February 1. Original works of poetry
and short prose can be submitted at Chris Dubbs'
office, #6 Carriage House West, phone #6237.
Math Anxiety Reduction Workshop: All
students are invited to attend an informal workshop
for reducing math anxiety, improving study skills
and learning test-taking strategies. Barbara Powers
and Dave Falvo will mediate the workshop
Wednesday, February 3, from 6-8 p.m. in Behrend
121. Refreshments will be served.
Financial Aid: There is tuition assistance available
for non-traditional women in the -fields of electronic
technology, mechanical design technology, and
agricultural business. For information call 868-0837
or write to New Options, Erie County Technical
School, 8500 Oliver Road, Erie, PA 16509.
Collection for Diehl School: Five collection
boxes have been set up on-campus to gather
Loblaws, Giant Eagle and Campbell's product labels
to benefit Diehl Elementary School. The boxes are
located in the apartment laundry rooms, first floor
Reed, and the Finance Office. Call Marilyn Chase at
898-6160 for any questions.
Undergraduate Research: If you are interested
in undergraduate research, check for a published list
of research opportunities. The lists are located in the
academic unit offices, the Financial Aid offices, and
the offices located in the Behrend, Carriage House,
and Turnbull buildings. They are available for
workstudy possibilities.
Applications for Student Trustee:
Applications to become a full member of the Board
of Trustees, Penn State's Governing Body, are now
available at the SGA Office. Anyone can apply.
Application deadline is February 19.
Morning Aerobics Cancellation: Due to the
lack of demand, the aerobics class offered on
Tuesday and Thursday mornings has been cancelled.
For more information on the possibility of a new
class call Patty McMahon at 898-6217.
Teaching Awards Nominations: Nominations
for the Excellence in Academic Advising and
Excellence in Teaching Awards are now available in
the Library, Student Services, Academic Unit
Offices, and the Provost's Office. Forms are due on
Wednesday, March 17.
Free Tutoring Available: All Behrend students
are welcome to utilize the Learning Assistance
Center's services. Student and faculty tutors are on
duty daily offering help with many subjects. For
more information call 898-6014 or drop by the
Center located in the South Cottage.
1993 Behrend College Undergraduate
Research and Creative Accomplishment
Conference: Undergraduates engaged in research
or creative accomplishments are invited to submit an
abstract/desription of their efforts to the Associate
Dean for Research. Deadline for submission of
abstracts is February 26, 1993. Please contact your
division office or the research office (898-6270) for
application information.

an interesting way for the
Behrend Service Group to gain
recognition and to serve Erie.
We all had a great time."
"I think the bowl-a-thon shows
what can happen when the dubs
participate," said Pat Smith, a
member of Psi Chi. "I think that
everyone there had a good time
and it was for a good cause."

that I had expected. Everyone
seemed to be having a good
time."
The Behrend Day Care Center
is scheduled to open its doors in
fall of this year. Additional
information concerning the center
is available through the Office of
Student Affairs (898-6111).

Theft
On January 18, 1993 a disk drive was taken frorh the Computer
Center. This is being investigated by Police & Safety.
Theft
A bookbag was stolen from the radio station on January 19, 1993
This incident is under investigation.
On January 19, 1993 clothes were taken from a dryer in Niagara Hall
This is under investigation.

On two separate occasions students reported money taken from their
resident hall rooms. These thefts are under investigation.
Medical Assist
On January 23, Police & Safety was called to Lawrence Hall for a
student who had injured his neck. Two students were wrestling when
he fell striking the upper back and neck area. Brookside transported
the student to Hamot Medical Center.
Police & Safety were called to assist PSP and Brookside Fire
Department on January 18 for a vehicle on fire on Jordan Road. A
woman, non-student, was driving on Jordan Road in front of Police
& Safety when her vehicle caught on fire. Her infant son was also a
passenger in the vehicle. She took her baby and went to Police &
Safety for help. The fire department and Pennsylvania State Police
were called by Police & Safety and Police & Safety directed traffic
and attempted to put the fire out until the fire department arrived.
Theft & Vandalism
On January 25 two vehicles parked in the South lot were broken into
between 11:00 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.. One vehicle had a total of $l4OO
damage and stolen goods. Nothing was stolen from the other vehicle.
This is under investigation.
