DR. J. H, SORENOK.
• Das.a.Sint—l fool it a duty lowa to you, and to 'all
who, are suffering under the diseases known as Con
sumption and Liver Complaint, to let them know what
great benefits I have received from your Bulmonle
Byrtip and Seaweed Tonic in so short a time. By the
blessing of God it has cured me tlts far.
Dr. b*chencs, I nowill make , y statement to you,
us follows:—About eighteen mont s ago I was attack
ed with a severe cough, and it settled on my lungs •,
could not retain anything I ate, and suffered with
evening fbvers and night sweats. 1 was very much
reduced. The whites of my oyes were very yellow ;
likewise m- skin ; my appetite all gone, and unable
to digest vault 1 did eat; bowels swoolon, irregular and
costive. I was very low spirited, and had such violent
spells of coughing when I laid down at night and when
arose in the morning that they would last one or
two hours.
I then would bo nearly exhausted, and was entirely
unable to lie on my lett side. I cannot describe my
wretched suffering as I would wish to do. livery or
gan in my body was diseased or' deranged. Such was
my situation at this time, and 'I was confined to my
bed from the lust of February, 1802, to June, 1803,n0t
able to sit up. I had the best of medical, attendance
the whole of the time. My cough was so very bad that
It melted me very much. lat this time raised a large
gurentity of thick, yellt w, offensive matter sometimes
with blood, and it was generally accompanied by nau
sea and a furred and thick coated tongue. At the
time of coughing so badly 1 would have sharp, shoot
ing pains lu my left side and heart, night sweats, and
soreness all through my whole chesty hadmuch in
ward fever, pain In my back and under my shoulder
blades and in the small of my back, and at times so se
vere that it would throw me tut(' spasms. Now my
physician gave me up to die Others I had, and the
bust of them but they could do nothing ior me, and
at that time I woo nothing but skin andbones 1 then
was in the western part of Missouri. In June last we
left there for the East, and in August last we came to
caw York, and I was so reduced teat I could only
walk a little with my husband's help. After I had
been here a short time the salt water breeze mad. me
feel much butter for a time and then I had again to
call a physician for aid. We bad four of the best ph)-
Siclatit, of New Yurk on the diseases of the lungs, and
doctors of all lauds, but of no avail. They said 1 was
past cure, and that my lunge were too far gone for any
one to curr me. But at this time 1 was on my feet a
bout the house, not able to do much of anything. In
November last 1 grew worse, and the consumption
diarrhea set in and basted about eight weeks. We had
tried all and everything that I could grasp at like a
d.)ing person for my diseases—coueumption and liver
complaint—but ol no avail.

they all give me up to die. At thin time every one
who saw me did not think I would over leave my bed

to starry off the morbid matter, and then, with astrin

I have known Iloolland's lierinan Bitter,: fltv..tably
for a number of years, 1 have used them in my own
and have boon so pleased with their effects,
that I was induced to recommend them to many oth ,
ors, and know that they have operated to a strikingly
beneficial manner. I take great pleasure In thus pub
licly prOelaiming this Iket, and calling the attention
of those afflicted with the LlU:rases for which they are
recommended, to these bitters, knowing tram expert
once that my recommendation will be sustained. I
do this more cheerfully as Ifoolland's Bitters is intend
ed to benefit the afflicted, and is -not a run, drink.'

tint Church, etilla.
Gentlemen have recently eon laboring under
the distressing efforts of indigestion, accompanied by
a prostration of the nervous system. Numerous rem
edies were recommended by friends, and sonic of them
tested, hut without relief. Your Herdland's German
Bitters ware recommended by persons who hod tried
them, and whose favorable mention of these bitters
induced me to try thorn. I must confess that I had
an aversion to Patent Medicines from the "thousand
and one" quack "Bitters," whose only alms seems to
be to palm off sweetened and drugged liquor upon the
community in a sly way, and the tendency of which,
I fear, is to make many a confirmed drunkard. Upon
learning that yours was roallya medicinal prepara
tion I took it with happy effect. Its action, not only
upon time stcmach, but upon the nervous system, was
prompt and gratifying. I feel that I have derived
great and permanent benefit from the use of a few
bottles.

A I tomfgh not disposed tc favor or recommend Patent
Medicines is general, through distrust of their ingre
dients and effects, I yet know of no sufficient reasons
why a man may not testify to the benefits he believes
himself to have received from any simple preparation,
in the hope that he may thus contribute to the bene
fit of others. Ido this the more readily in regard to
Ilooiland's German Bitters, prepared by Dr. 0. M. Jack
son, of this city, because I was prejudiced against them
for many years, under the impression that they were
chiefly an alcoholle mixture. lam indebted to my
frieudi Robert Shoemaker, Esq., for the removal of this
prejudice by proper tests and fur cncouragedient to try
thent'whon suffering from great and long continued
