“I think Tommy (Hovasse) and Ed did a fine job
offensively,” Parkhill said.
Parkhill felt the game was good for the team,
but he was a little disturbed by the score of the
game.
I think for the most part we played prettv
well, Parkhill said. “We have to be more patient
on offense and work on our weak side rebounding.
I feel bad about the score. I never feel comfortable
with a score like this, but it was one of those nights
where our guys were pumped up and Juniata was
cold.”
Parkhill added that it is tough to tell much from

In the finals, Martin used an early
first period escape to outlast
N.C. State's Mike Stokes and clinch
the title at 126. At 167, redshirt fresh
man Suter opened some eyes by
downing Mike Lehman of Rider. 5-4,
while Mayo beat Lock Haven's Bill
Freeman, 7-3 for the 177-pound title.
Chertow (134) was defeated 3-1 in the
finals by N.C. State's Bill Hershey.
Although Mayo came out on top in
his weight class, he said he still has a
long way to go to wrestle up to his own
potential.

a game like this but he feels his team is ready to
play. He said that there is always some slippage in
performance from practices to games, but he was
pleased with the Lions’ performance Saturday.
Hovasse felt the Lions needed to use the game to
make a statement - both to themselves and to the
Oklahoma Sooners.
We didn t look past Juniata," Hovasse said.
“We wanted to make a statement to both Oklaho
ma and ourselves. I think we played well, we were
all just really pumped up."
The victory starts the season on a winning note
for the Lions, but they weren’t really tested and
that could be a drawback entering tomorrow's
game with No. 19 Oklahoma.
