A Touching Story.
We find the followiog harrowing nar—
alive related in the Ledger of Friday last;
It was hut yesterday that we were made
acquainted with . the history of a family of
females—an aged mother and three daugh
ter,—who, before the failure of the United
States Bank, were worth thirty thousand
dollars. The whole of this sum was in—
vested in the inetituticn named, and from
the whole of which they could not now
probably realize over one hundred or two
hundred dollars! They dressed and lived
during their prosperity as their amount - of

preparing themselves in any particular vo
