where it waa obtained is kept a aucrel

there is no mistake as to its beiug an

tt'new era will dawn upon Penusvalley

is no deception about this coal haviug

and the glistening anthracite in the
eastern, will rank old Centre atuong

reappearing, and are actively intriguing
and, rganuaing in favor of the restoration
of the empire. Market! sigus of reaction
towards imperialism are becoming visible
among the Paris shop keepers. A similar
reaction i# reported in the provinces. The
Bouapartist* argue that the success of the

matter it in to explore the bottom ot a
well, cistern, or pond of water by the
use of a common mirror. \V heu the
sun is shining brightly hold a mirror
so that the reflected revs of light will
fall into the water. A bright spot
will be seen at the bottom, o light as
to show the smallest object plain ly.
Bv this means we have examined the
bottoms of wells fifty feet deep, when
half full or more* of water. The
smallest straw or other objects can be
perfectly seen from the surface. In
the #;iiue way one can examine the
botii ni of the ponds aud rivers, if the
waters lie somewhat elear anJ not agi
tutl bv winds or rapid motion. If a
well or cistern eau be uuder cover, or
shaded by n building so that the sun
light will not fall near the opening, it
is only uecessarv to employ two mir
rors, using one to reflect the light to
the opening, and auothcr to reflect it
down into the water. Light may be
thrown fifty r a hundred yards to the
precise spot desirable, and theu down
ward.
