A Frog in loo
We were shown yesterday, by a Savannah
gentlemai a 1 imp of Northern ice in which a
meJiu.il eizod frog was comfortably and cooly
ensconced. His frogship (we like to talk re
spectfully all beings even of our political op
ponents) seemed to be a cross between the
rana viridis and tbe rana esculent but lest
wo might make a bull of him giving bis his
tory from memory, (like other dealers in auti
quated Greek liesh, Ac.) we immediitely
turned to Luciaid Greek "Dialouges of the
Dead," and found as follows :
"Ye frogire is one emphybyoui annimal
with foure foete a nayked biddie and wytbout
ever a tftila. lie batn a boarse voyce, aou
lovevtb much to ubb it on y soummcr nights
lie is remarkable for graceful! symming with
rapidnesse aud for taking verrie large leaps
en vo lands."
That authority settled, we will state that
tbe above frog showed symptoms or life after
bis cool incrustation had dissolved and having
been placed in water was thawed iuto life and
ctrrity. It certainly was a curiosity to see
live froz thus clone up in ice : but wneiner
lust winter it contemplated a tour to South
ern latitudes and considering the above was
the coolest mode of traveling, we leave a ques
tion of debate with ichthyologists cdidgenut

The undersigned, memliers of the committee.

alike.
The'fire was started at 8J o'clock. A. M.. and
kept up until four cords of green Jiickory, two
cords dry oak and hnlfchcsnut top wood were
entirely consumed, the whole under tho aupcrin
lendence of the subscribers, members of the Coin

water, after which they were opened, and the
books and papers taken out by tho Committee
and sent to 11. A. I, antra store for public exam
