M. C. Sadler. .Esg., Agent for Lillie's. Safes
. DEAR gm : During the night of May 19; 1E63, our . Gro
cery and. Provision Store, .at North Second and WilleW
streets, took tire at about-2 o'clrock A. At and as the
store was a two-story wood building. it burnt rapidly,
'and before the lire• engines could act:upon the fire, our
whole stock of goods, including much combustible
teital,-andand amounting to over $2,800, were wholly de
stroyed. We bad one okyour No. 11 Chilled-Iron Safes,
which was in the hottest-part of the fire,: and , it came out
of the fire not in the least: injured, except tha melting off
of the name, plate and paint. The contents inside were
not affected in the least, and-we consider the Safesnst as
good a protection against fire now as, before, and shall
use it hereafter with increased' confidence. The lock
works as perfectly as before the fire.
Yours truly, Aral - ANUS & CRaFT.
- Late 4,29 North SECOND Street.
Attention to the above certificate is particularly re
quested, as it is the first trial of LILLI.V.S; SAFES in an

I would say to all parties who want a Fire and
Burglar-proof Safe that LILLIE'S WROUGHT SAND
CHILLED IRON SAFES are much the cheapest and the
only real Fire and. Burglar-proof Safes now made; and
to those who want simply a tire-proof; I would say that.
LILLIE'S -WE 'MIGHT IRON S aFE is fully equal in all
respects to any of the most-approved makers, and is
sold at fully one-thirdiero price. -.
I also aro receiving daily in exchange for Lillie's
Wrought and Chilled Iron Safes other Safes, and keep
constantly on hand a general assortment of HERRING'S,

almost new, which I offegat, and even below, auction

In calling the attention of the publictuthis affair on
giacK PARAFFINE VARAISH„
the subscribers.have only time to say that it is very in
teresting to those interested, and unworthy the attention
of any body else, further than it being the. refutation of
a lie over the signature of George S. Page & Bro.,Edstern
Varnish Peddlers; simply, because they object to our
manufacturing and selling a Varnish in Philadelphia, in
every-way- superior,. for one-half the money than their
so- caileclPatent Paraffin° Varnish. Any one preferring
Pages' to ours can buy it of no, with "sworn bids,"
and half dozen.. other parties in town, without putting
us to expense; 26 cents alderman fees. t"
As the trade of Philadelphia, who have so liberally
patronized us since. January. last, have been thoroughly
aware of what they were haying,-itis not supposed that
they will be led by "rage's Appeal" to pay extra
price,, extra. ', freight, extra cartage extra package
peavey, for an article in New York, when they can buy
the R. 'F. IRON-BRILLIANT at home, at less purchase
money, without these charges, a better quality, any
more than a painter would pay for turpentine, at its pre
sent price, when benzine, answers his purpose. Persons
wanting Page's Varnish, residing in distant portions
of the city. can be furnished with the names of parties
selling it in their locality, free of chirge, by applying
