Whereos,.it has pleased Almighty God, in his divine
providence, to remove from among us one of our as m
mates, Mr. SAMUEL D. ALLEN, an officer who, by his
strict integrity and uprightness through a long owlet!.
Hon with the force, merited the approval of all those
who had intercourse with him officially, and bY his Man
ly traits and kind feelings entwined himself in our fandeet
affection: therefore,
Resolved, That in MS death we have lost a true friend
and worthy eompanium . one who has entwined himself
around our hearts by his many acts of kindness and his
long connection with us.
And he it further . .
Resolved; That we sincerely sympathize with his fami
ly in the loss of one to whom they had reason to be very.
tenderly attached, on account of his kindness and atten
tion as a husband and father, and wh tby his many Vir
