THE GREAT CLOTHES' WRINGER.
PITTNAM
" SELF-ADJITSTING CLOTHES WRINGER"
Is warranted to be superior to any other in use.
EVERY FAMILY SHOULD POSSESS A
CLOTHES WRINGER.
BECAUSE,
let. It is a relief to the hardest part of washing-day.
2d. It enables the washing to be done in one-third less
time.
3d. It saves clothes from the injury always given by
twisting.
4th. It helps to waBh the clothes as well as dry them.:"
WE BELIEVE IT ADVISABLE. TO PROCURE
ONE OF THIS KIND,
BEOAII22y
. FIR,ST. The rolls being of vulcanized rubber, will
bear hot and cold water, and will neither break nor tear
off buttons.
SECOND. The frame being of iron, thoroughly gal
vanized, all danger from rust is removed, and the lia
bility to shrink, swell, spilt, &c., so unavoidable in
wooden machines, is prevented.
TITIRD. The spiral springs over the rolls render this ma
chine self-adjusting, so that small and large articles, as
well as articles uneven in thickness, are certain to re•
ceive uniform pressure,
Fourra. The patent fastening by which the machine
is tightened to the tub, we believe to be superior in sim
plicity and efficiency to any yet offered.
Firm. It will fit any trib, round or square, from one
half to one-and-a-quarter inches in thickness, without
the least altefttion.

TheicetrYork Christian Inquirer says "it is one of
the most .graphic
ever been written of the South and Southern society, *.
* * ' Among the Pines' Is a good manual on the war,
ami on the cause of the war."
AMONG THE PINES.
Thor. Y. Examiner remarks that "No more interest
ing or suggestive volume has ever been published about
the South and its peculiar institutions. * * This
fascinating volume needs no other commendation than
the fact that its salc, within a tow weeks, has reached
Nineteen Thousand copies." , .
AMONG THE PINES.,
The Boston Romer of Light says "Among the Pines
is certainly a most remarkable book ;.the writer of it is
a real hero, without ever appearing to be aware of it. He
sketches and•oolbrs with the firm and rapid hand of an
artist, and * throws together incidents, and develops
scenes that.stit tlie•blood in every vein in the body."
AMONG THE PINEg.
The Pittsburg Glizette says: "No work on Southern
social life since 'Uncle Tom:_ has been given to the world
which can at all be compared to Mr. Kirke's 'Among the
Pines.' It is one of The books of the SVOOn which is sure
to be universally, read; and which will live when much
cotemporary writing will be forgotten."
AMI®NG T.ll E PINES.
The Salem Observer says: "The best critics have pro
nounced this book the most vivid and life-like repre
sentation of the peculiar phase of Southern life and
character which it describes that has ever been written,
Indeed, so truthful do its descriptions seem, that it has
been matter ohlispate with not a few whether they are
Sotion or fact."
AMONG , THE PINES.
The Boston .Recarder says " it is a book which will be
read. with deep interest at the present time. The style
is ciyid,. and the pictures sketched we suppose to he.
true,"
AMONG THE PINES.. •
