This Yery f< Civil Wah.—We soo by
. .the speeches of tbe speakers at Independence Square on
Saturday, that the idea was prominent that hereafter we
cannot afford,to guard rebel property and catch ; their
fleeing chaiiels, as some of our officers thought was the
purpose of the war .at its commencement, but that we
. must inflict damage upon the enemies of oar country by
_tte use of gunpowder and hot “ soft-sawder.” Let it be
known that we mean *< fight,” and the road to
will be crowded with willing bands and eager feet. In
the meantime, clothing at war prices at Charles Stokes’,

Barsey, Let tue Girls (Duds) Alone.-
A soldier at Port Republic recently stole an old yellow
gown, a scarf, and a piece of carpet. General Milroy
made bim put on tbe gown, tie the scarf around his neck,
lay the carpet across his arm, and march through the
camp. The result was a general consent of the soldiers
to.let women’s clothing alone, AU sensible men pursue
that course in this locality, and they furthermore procure
their own garments at the Brown Stone Clothing Sail
of Bockhill A Wilson, Nos. 603 and 603 Ghestnut street,
