To THE: EDITOR of THE Paws : My attention
Juts been called to a leading article in the New York
Herald of the Ath, headed " An Abolition Bible,"
in which the writer refers to Cassell's Illustrated

this edition, in the runthchapter of Exodus, and the
thirty.second verse, the word "rice," which. word
(he says) does not occur in the chapter at all in any
correct copy of the The writer further says
that there will be abundance of time to make any
further interpolations in matters relating to South
irn rice plantations , cotton culture, &o.
I quote . the verse referred to from Cassell's edi
tion, Exodus. 32, ig Ent the wheat and the rig
were not smitten, for they were not grown up."
As the word "rice" does not appear in this verse,
3:tor in any part of the chapter, it follows that the
only charge the Herald brings against this beauti
ful edilital of the Bible is NOT TRUE_ flow any
sane man could found a leading article in a daily

I leave you. Mr. Editor, to solve.

SPECIAL NOTICES.
THE DREAM.--
BY THE BARD OP TOWER BALL.
Said Simpson (an unlucky night),
Idreamed I dwelt in Ambers bright;
Superbly furnished were the rooms,
And filled With exquisite perfumes;
There was a radiance soft and clear
Diffused from many a chandelier
It rAI on paintings rich and rare,
And sculptured forms divinely fair.
Around the wide saloons I gazed,
Ores io) ed, enchanted, and amazed,
And by my fancy then (Medved
In nil that splendor I believed;
But ou my unbecoming dress
I looked with sorrow and distress,
For white such frightful clothes I wore,
I fat a loafer and. no more.
"Alas I" I cried, "this scene so bright
Is but a vision of the night ;
Some spiteful wizard mocks my fate
And ridicules my low estate.
Why could he not the kindness show
To dress me well, from top to toe,
At ToWER HALT.l"—that kind deceit

Bead the following; then, call at 1220 Walnut street,
and witness the astonishing cures daily performed, an- if
You are suffering from any disease considered incurable
by me...UM bleu of the old vendee, apply to us, and we
will give you a warrantee of a perfect cure, and charge
you nothing if we fail:
a About six years ago I became entirely deaf in my
right ear, and constant ringing end roaring in my head
attended it constantly: I tried different medical
a host, of the common remedies, for years, and finally
abandoned all hopes of ever being free from the most
horrid of all troubles. All about me was noise and ring
ing. A short time since I obtained a circular issued from
the office of Itsdlep cgmpaah /22.11 Walnut stoat and;
on reading, was induced to cell on those Gents for ad
vice, who readily informed me that they could cure me
in a few days. I put myself at once under their treat.
ment, and in twelve applications was entirely cured, and
have not been troubled since. I have good reason to
think the cure 'permanent; as time animist has elapsed
to test its results.
6 , 1( cheerfully recommend all similarly afflicted to
apply to these• Gentlemen, astheirdisrovory in the ap
plication of glectrlcity enables them to give a war
rentee in nearly all cases, whether acute or chronic.
