A SAFE. OUR/NAND BRIr,LIATT tlOlll —Our at
tention has renently been called to a new and invaluable
light, entitled the "Levelers Self-Generating Portable '
Gas-Burner and Fixture's," of 'which Minters. Witten '
k Company, No. 6181llarket street, aro the sole proprie
tore. The frequent aicidents arising from the use of j
fluid hes often been a subject of comment, caution, and
evert Itri, Intadvefeloni in these columns, and we have.
therefore, the more pleasure in apprising the public, of
an article which not only effectually obviates this diffi
catty, but places within the reach of all. 'whether in the
city or country, one of the most pleasant, brilliant. and
at the seine time the cheapest, lights that have yet been
prodneed.
By a most iegeaioue arrangement. Ma gas consumed
by thte burner is generated in the lamp to 'JAW, it is
attathed. By actual experiments, made by scientific
men, explosion from the use of fluid ie these gee-gene
rating lamps is rendered imeoseible. This entire sere
tity ia, in fact, obvious latrine examination, and, oonst
ering thin the cost of light by the use of those lamer,
while it is quite as pleasant a light, is scarcely ono-half
that of ordinary gal, we are not surprised to find that
Meagre. Witten , Co. are supplying orden for them
to all parts of the Union. In scores of churches end
Publichalls throughout the country they have already
been introduced, and for these purposes are found to be
the moot comPlete cud respects desirable portable
light ever discovered. As they manufacture magnifi
cent chandeliers, firid,in feet, every design of fixture
tapplied for the consumption of Wirers , gee, this
light is being freely adopted in many places even where
. the latter is accessible. Our oldeet in referring to this
light in sued commendatory terms is to attract public
attention toe first rate article, which. if it wore in our
power, we would have to supersede the nse of all other
Portable lights now in use, from consideration' of safe

are introducing them as car lights, and they are acting

imparted by these cm larnpaand the ordinary wick light
is almeat incredible. Mews. Witten & Co. are now
rapidly sellbaithefftata and County rights for the sale
of this valuable patent light, and it wilt probably not be
long before' every town and hamlet In the Union
will have made the favorable acquaintanee of the
