Here, then, was a broad platform of-uni

speaker, a man used the means at his cont

the Levitical 'law a - multitude of Sabbaths (a

the moral:law—he must 'be 'able to show-at

with the view of honering God.
There, was -too much palling down among
Christians, and' too , Milo disposition 'to
build up. Everything that tended to 'edify; (a
word signifying to build up, and from which
the term edifice was derived,) wee Valuable and
good. The Scriptures likened the church to a
great edifice; of which Christ was the head;
the states' hi this edifice,,were the differept
branches of the church;- all these needed
''trimming and cutting-and-chiselling to adapt
them - to theplaees they were to" 1111, and' yet,

We are happy to hear that Mr. J. J. Reed, a gen
tleman of considerable literary attainments, and who
hancontributed to Graham's many excellent ketches of
eminent Persone has re-opened his Institute /or Young
Ladies, at 1523 Walnut etreet, one of the moat admira
ble localities in the city. Mrs. Reed lea lady who ban
bad many yearn' experience in tuition, and beam a high
reputation for mimes in training her pupils, both mo
re*. and mentally. Mr. Reed, from his knowledge of
European languagen, and from haying graduated In the
Bret college,' in England, itnparte the advantages of the
beet European epitome of education; and particular at
tention la paid to the study of English Composition and
Polite Literature. We would lay some stress on this
latter fact, since general literary Information and Cul
ture, though by far the most distinguishing signs of In
telligence and refilled education, are, on the whole, far
more neglected in most schools and colleges than any
other branches.—Editor of Graham's Magazine for

This Is to certify my wife was in delicate health some
three years , with a discus peculiar to her sex. She
tried numerous remedies without deriving soy benefit.
Hearing of Robissark's Iron Bitter:, and knowing
iron to be a powerful tonic, induced me to obtain a
bottle, which proved to be the medicine she solely re

to recommend it to those who are similarly affected,
