New Howe.—The members of the 00-

bert street above Eleventh, are actively engaged
in mitring the necessary arrangements to build a

The funeral of Aire Nathaniel Gates, an old
and respected citieen of Soutfintark, took place
yesterday afternoon. His remains wore followed
to the grave, by a largo, concourse of people. Ilia
body was previonitly remefed into the ()buret',
where the ceremonies were of the most imposing
and affecting character: The eloquence of the
pester, Rev. N D. Baldwin, in delineating the
last hour of the dimmed, brought tears to the eves

Prize Fight Stepped.—A couple of rowdies
belonging to the Fifteenth ward, named Lavenny
and Benner, went to the corner of Sixteenth street
and Peussylvania avenue, on Sunday aft - minion, at
two o'clock, for the purpose of. indulging in the
brutal sport attending a prise fight. A crowd as
sembled in.the vicinity to witness the fan," but
the police beard of the affair a short time before it
was to oome off, and frightened the parties away.
