(Slit Cfoimfg gldcaqnte Henry A. Parsons, Jr. - . Editor THURSDAY, JULY 17. J873. New Monet. The new fractional currency fifty cent notes will be issued to the publio in a few days. The new note will be about a quarter of an inch shorter than that now in circulation, and a quarter of an inch wider, its di mensions being 3 inches by 2 inches. On the left baud side of the face of the note is a vignette head of Samuel Dexter, who was Secretary of the Treasury in 1801, and a former Gov ernor of the State of Massachusetts, and on the right a section of geometrical lath-work, with the words "Fifty Cents," in white letters, engraved across the face. The wording of the note is the same as tnat of the present issue, with the omission of "receivable for all United Stater stamps," which appears at the bottom of the old note. The seal is printed in the centre of the face, and is 'n closed in cycloidal work, a new feature upon fractional currency. The back of the note, which will be painted in New Y ork, will bo green. It is made up of geometrical lathe-work and scrolls. On the right hand corner the words "cents," found on the old note, is omitted, and the numeral 50 takes its place. The date of the passage of the act authoriz ing the issue appears on the face of the note instead of the back. On the left hand side of tho back there is an open space to show the fibre in tho paper, and it will not be shown on the face as in the ld note. GENERAL NOTES.
