Terrible Accident The Star of this
morning says: Last evening, Mr. Peter
Acker and bis brother, who reside on Spring
CreoK and another man went over to Cald
well Creek to watcb deer licks. During the
night, Peter Acker, not geemiog to meet with
good luck, shifted his position f om one lick
toward another where bis brother was watch
ing, who, seeing Peter approaching gently,
mistook blm for a deer and fired with a la

ting Peter in the breast, ppssing through
his body killing him instantly. Mr. Acker

suddenly deprived of a husband and father,
with no warning of their dreadful bereave

At Leavenworth, Crawford Co., Ohio, the
manufacture of salt promises to bo an im
portant business. A few dnys since a num
ber or wells were bored for oil, two of which
nave proved lobe excellent salt wells. The

northward of Leavenworth. Eight miles
