Ne transactions of any importance Lave
taken place, and none in new tobaccos
have come te light, though there are ru
mors of some. Pennsylvania of the '78
crop is gradually leaving the market at old
figures, making neither profit nor less for
the parties that tenaciously held en te the
unsatisfactory leaf of this crop. Notwith
standing the scarcity of old stock, there is
no disposition evinced by manufacturers
te secure '79 tobaccos. They evidently be
lieve that the great yield of the '79
crop will prevent any scarcity of leaf
either this or next year, and by holding
aloof they expect te secure their share of
the crop at lower figures than it could new
be bought for.
