Page 10 ..1 Society of the Arts The Society of the Arts presented its Ist Amual Student Art Exhibition during the motith of October. From October 3to the 31, artwork by students; of P.S.U. Hazleton was on exhibit In the lower level of the library. The artwork entailed all mediums (types): such as paintings, ocupliuro, pencil, and oil morkoro. We are happy to report that many students took advantage of the free exhibit. Also sponsored by the Society for the Arts. Auditions for the play, Bedtime Story. by Sean O'Casey were on October 10th., Look out for the production in the near future. Rocktoberfest "Rocktoberfest° was a concert consisting of 4 bands held Thursday, October 20 in the Commons. The turn out was good, and the bands did an awesome Job. The rock n' roll kept the whole audience up, and cheering. The four bands included, "The Fringe,' "So n' So,' "Grape Jelly' and The Jammers' from the Hazleton area, and 'Salty Load,' from the Philadelphia area the money made froni the concert benefited the Chorus and Drama club. The performances began at 8:00 p.m. in the Highacres Commons. This Neil Simon comedy was first presented in New York City at the Biltmore Theatre in 1963, directed by Mike Nichols; It starred Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley in the Wing roles. The play Is about a newlywed couple just starting out in New York City. The play takes place on the top floor of a Brownstone. The Highacres production of this outstandng three-act comedy featured students of the Penn State Hazleton Campus, directed by Dr. James Gibson, asistant professor of music at the campus. Kristen Erickson played Corie Bratter in the Highacres production; Ben Frangui played Paul Bratter. Ms. Erickson is from Stonybrook, Long Island; she is a freshman errolled In the ()vision of Undergraduate Studies. She has appeared in numerous other productions including 'No, No Nanette,' 'Bye Bye Birdie,' and Ben Fraqui is from the Bronx, and is a second year student at the campus. He appeared during the summer in the Broadway production of "Cats', and was Billy Bigelow in last years campus production of 'Carousel." The role of the Telephone Man was played by Joe Parendier; the Delivery Man by Mark Salata: Mrs. Bank by Denise Terhune; and Mr. Valesco by Mark Nicholas. Kevin Weaver of Coopersburg, PA was assistant director of the production: Joelie Teets of Palmyra was stage manager; Steve Potucek was assistant stage manager; Mary Knapich of Shickshinny as special consultant/make-up; Kelly Lieberman of Penn Argyl was production coordinator: Raquel Mensinger of Hazleton was Production Assistant. Other staff members included: Grips; Paul Parker, Tasha Joe Rushatz, Bob Dulee, Fritz Light, Joe Romanelb and Steve Parish; Richard Betz was lighting drector; Kimberly Rochow was cometume designer, aesieted by Christine Kachurak; Laurel Neyhard was art design; Tani Feifer was set designer; Mark Salate was in charge of Program; Darcy Adams and Candace Canady, make-up; Bethann Longenecker, props: Erica Lynn McAfee, house manager; and Annette Seliga and Danielle Antolick, tickets.
