Allen Krantz to appear on campus The Cultural Affairs Pro gram at the Hazleton Campus will present Mr. Allen Krantz, a classical guitarist, on Mon day, April 19, 1982 at 7.p.m. in the Residence Hall Lobby. Mr. Krantz is an exciting young performer who has delighted audiences on both coasts as well as on television and radio. His repertoire ranges from Renaissance to the Twentieth 'Century, and includes original composi tions and music from Japan and India, as well as the traditional European and Latin American guitar literature. Mr. Krantz holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the San Francisco Con- Artwork goes on display The Penn State Hazleton Campus Cultural Affairs Pro gram is presenting "Beginn ing Phases," an exhibit of art work by Ms. Robin Antolick, a local artist. It began on Monday and will continue un til next Friday. The exhibit is located on the lower level of the Ilighacres library and is displayed during regular library hours. Ms. Antolick attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauder dale, Florida, and received an Associate of Science Degree in Advertising servatory and a Master of Music degree from Stanford University, and has studied with such noted guitarists as Michael Lorimer and Oscar Ghiglia. He has appeared often on college campuses, communi ty concert series, and in numerous chamber music ensembles and festivals. Recently, he performed duets with Russian mandolinist Emanuel Scheynkman in Carnegie Hall as part of the Soviet Emigre Music Festival. The performance is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Residence Hall Lobby and is open to the public. Design. She has been a recipient of the Gold Key Award and recently was selected as the winner of the 1982 Hazleton City Logo Com petition. Vet's club plans tourney The First Annual Highacres Ping-Pong Tour nament is now being arrang ed by the Veteran's Club on Campus. The tournament, which will be conducted during the en tire Spring Term, is being organized- by Sophomore Kevin Sharpe and Freshman Dave Picarelli, president and vice-president of the Vet's Club respectively. A ladder is now being form ed for singles players only. Next Monday, March 29, is the final day to sign up for the tournament. There will be a $1 entry fee to participate payable to the Vet's Club. The fee will offset the cost of the first, se cond, and third place trophies which will be awarded to the contest winners at the end of the term. Also, new ping-pong paddles and a new net will be purchased by the club. "If the response is good enough," said Sharpe, "there is the possibility of starting a second playoff ladder with two sets of players competing simultaneously." Blue Band to make area appearance Look for a night of fine listening on Sunday, April 4, as the Penn State Blue Band comes to Hazleton. The Sym phonic band is to perform at 8 p.m. at the Hazleton High School auditorium. The PSU Symphonic Blue Band is separate from the Marching Band although both bands are under ,the same leadership, and many stup/ents participate in both organizations. The band has had only four conductors since its inception in 1914.
