Naturally they hate it, since the war keeps their husbands away for such long periods of time. Lysistrata, the main character of the play, develops a plan. She persuades all the women to band together and take the affairs of state into their own hands. An ultimatum is issued to the men: no sex until a truce is declared. AH of the women leave their homes and go to stay in the Aeropolis. The Men, after realizing the seriousness of the situation bring the ambassadors together and peace is decided. Sex is finally restored. Financing of their production came from the Cultural Ac tivities Fund.
