Department of Communications The Highacres Student Go vernment Association has accom plished a number of projects in the past three weeks for the bene fit of the campus com munity and the Commonwealth of Greater Hazleton. On Saturday, January 22, the Organisation of Town Inde pendent Students of the S.G.A. sponsored a bus trip to Uni versity Park in order that Highacres students planning to transfer to the University Park campus could see State College apartment and Residence Kails. The S.G.A. funded the trip al most entirely, except for a $.50 fee for each student. The Highacres Club Adviso ry Council, which is an S.G.A. coordinated council consisting of representative of each High acres club and the Student Af- fairs Cultural Series sponsor ed the lecture given by Mark Lane on January 19. Many of the Highacres clubs and organ isations financially supported the lecture through the .S.G.A.'s Highacres Club Advisory Council. ‘i'lie S.C.A. donated five copies of This Is Luzerne C.oun- ty to the Highacres Library, The book was published by the League of Women Voters. A Department of Communi cations has been set up by the S.G.A. to serve several pur-o poses. The Department is pro viding a service to the campus by sending press releases of major Highacres activities to local radio and television stu- dios, A weekly column entitl ed "Highacres Happenings" is appearing each Saturday in the The Hazleton Standard Speaker publicizing news and upcoming events at Highacres. Club and organization officers are urg e,d to submit news and informa tion of upcoming events to El liot Grossman via his S.G.A. mailbox by Monday of the week is to be publicized. Page appointed these officers in response to the R.H.C.'s declaring that the election of November 11 for Vice-Presi dent was illegal. The elec tion was declared illegal as a result of a petition submit ted to the R.H.C. asking "that the R.H.C. election be declar ed illegal." In accordance with the R.H.C. constitution Page ap pointed lisa Loetzbeier, R.H.C. Vice- President. He then ap pointed Liz Kovacs and Doug Loqua, assistant Vice-Presi dent and assistant Treasurer, respectively. Page said in order to e liminate any further problems, "R.H.C. decided to fulfill ! A preliminary outline of the revisions has been made and a committee has been form ed to correct and adjust the various controversial flaws in the constitution. When th corrections are complete, the revised form will be analyzed and approved by a majority R.H.C. vote. Page said no problems are expected in the immediate future concerning the issue of unconstitutional elections. Tentative additions pro posed by Page include that "the President shall be a vot ing member of the S.G.A. and he shall be an ex-officio mem ber of the Student Union Bog.r< He shall preside with the Vio President over all R.H.C. ele' tions."
