Before the start of the current season, Penn State's eleven has ranked as one of the top teams in the nation. Currently sporting a 3-0 record and number three national ranking, the charges of coach Joe Paterno are living up to pre-season expectations. The lions opened the season with a 31- 6 victory over a determined Navy team. Kansas State was the next victim, losing 25-9 last weekend, the boys defeated a strong West Vir ginia team 31-20. Coach Paterno was reportedly very proud of his team's comeback victory over Kansas State. "This is the time," he told his team at half-time, "to see if you have it." And they did. The victory over Kansas State has a taste of misfortune. Half back Bob Campbell, All-American candidate, suffered a shoulder sep aration that will place him out of action indefinitely. He will be replaced by Gary Duel or Charlie Wilson, both sophomores and lack ing experience. Most newcomers to the Hazleton Campus are not aware of the many opportunities available for partici pating in athletics. Intercampus competition is held in chess, bowl ing, ping-pong, and basketball. Anyone who enjoys keen competition and would like to join one of the inter-campus or intramural teams should sign up on the appropriate sheet located on the bulletin board in the S.U.B. cafe teria.
