DR. LATTMAN
SPEAKS TO
STUDENTS
Dr. Lawrence Lattman, Professor
of Geology at P.S.U., Main Campus,
spoke to a group of students and
guests on Friday evening, May 24.
The lecture scheduled, "The Age
of Scientific Thought", was re
placed with a lecture concerning
the geological basis for many of the
myths expounded in the Old Testa
ment.
Dr. Lattman explained that many
of the miracles stated in the Old
Testament were nothing more than
geological phenomona. For example,
the legend of the Nile turning into a
river of blood was caused by a land
slide, which caused an excessive
amount of red mud to fill the river
and turn its colorto a reddish shade.
He went on to reveal many of the
other supposed "miracles" as geo
logically based.
He concluded on a religious
note, however, by stating that in
his own opinion, the real miracle
of the Old Testament was the Ten
Commandments. For he feels that
no code of laws either before or
after them are equal to the signi
ficance they had on society. This
is what he feels is divine in the
Old Testament.

OSGA
CONFERENCE
HELD AT
UNIVERSITY
PARK
On May 19 and 20, four Mem
bers of the Student body, Joe Lam
ont, Judy Margie, Jerry Notaro and
Bonnie Bangor, went to University
Park to attend an OSGA conference.
OSGA is the organized Student
Governments of the nineteen com

coming year were present from each
of the campuses. During the first
conference, there were nominations
for President, Vice-President,
Corresponding Secretary, and Re
cording Secretary of OSGA. These
people will be attending school in
the fall at University Park.
There was a discussion on the
revision of the constitution. OSGA
was recently named a legislative
body. Any issues that OSGA wants
passed will go through the Senator
who is one of the six members on
the Senate.
Most of the conference work
was done in the workshop sessions.
Each campus would divide their
group so that they had an idea of
what went on in the four workshop
groups. There were many issues
that were discussed, such as park
ing fees, fees on sports, and ade
quate representation in the Senate.
The conference was then adjourned
for the day.
The following day the conference
met again, and reports from the
workshops were given. Also, re
visions in the constitution were
made, voted on, and passed. The
people that were nominated for
officers of OSGA gave a campaign
speech. Finally the officers were
