Page 6 WHAT CENSORED REVOLUTION ? MAKE IT COUNT The past is over, done with, Never to be altered, Never to be removed, Yet receding irretrievably into the hollow cave of oblivion, The future is void of actuality Save in our heart’s expectant dreams, Nothing exists , Excepting the very immediate present, We are alone.in each living Split stroke of eternity. by Mike Kasten This most intriguing title was the theme of Dr. James Staudenmeier’s recent discussion held in. the SUB lounge on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 1968, at 2:30 P.M. What revolution was he referring to the sexual revo lution! Dr. Staudenmeier, counseling psy chologist at Highacres, began his lecture by refuting the well-estab lished concept of a sexual revolu tion in today’s society. He feels that we are not in a sexual revolu tion at this time, but are in danger of falling into one unless prevent ative measures are taken immedi ately. He proceeded to inform the audi ence of the sexual activity which is under attack today in suburbia and on the college campus. He made reference to some of the present day philosophies being followed. Spe cifically, he pointed out Margaret Mead’s theories on marriage and Hugh Heffner’s “Playboy Philoso phy”. Continuing, he summarized past sexual revolutions beginning with the era of the 1920’.s and the role prosperity had to play in sex activ ity. This was followed by an ac- FORDHAM COACH HIRED BY PENN STATE John Bach, who has been coach ing basketball at Fordham Univers ity for 18 years, will be taking over as Penn State’s head basket ball coach this spring. His ap pointment to succeed John Egli was made, after Egli asked to be relieved of his coaching duties. He spent 14 years as Penn State’s coach supporting a record of 186 wins and 133 losses. Bach’s career record consists of 258 victories and 192 losses. He has proved himself successful at count of the 1930’s and the depres sion’s effecton sex life. The 1950’s with its post war attitudes on sex, was the next era under perusal. Last ly, the present day philosophy, which is largely influenced by tele vision and the pill, was examined. The three main fears, fear of sin, fear of losing virginity, and fear of disease as a deterrent to sexual pro miscuity in the past are largely dis pelled today, Dr. Staudenmeier em phasized, because of the pill and because people today are not will ing to readily accept the “Thou Shalt Not” rules as laws. Sexual Education is the ultimate solution in combatting a sexual rev olution in Dr. Staudenmeier’s esti mation. He strongly feels and urges a vigorous program should be blend ed into the regular course schedules beginning at the junior high school level and continuing throughout col lege life. Furthermore, he is con vinced that classes in adult educa tion should be formed in order to or ient the parents to be more under standing and knowledgeable on sex so that they may convey this know ledge and understanding to their children. Fordham with a current season of 14 wins and 6 losses. Bach’s original plans were to leave coach ing at the end of this season to devote full time to his dual role of director of athletics at Fordham. Penn State Athletic Director Ernest B. McCoy expressed extreme pleasure with Bach’s addition to the staff. Bach has an excellent back ground in fundamentals, and for the past 18 years has enjoyed a successful career as one of the nations foremost coaches. Highacres Collegian
