CAGERS HAVE
OUTSTANDING YEAR’S
RECORD
The Highacre’s basketball team is
shooting for a winning season this
year in intercampus-league play. So
far, the team is boasting an out
standing record of seven wins and
three losses and is looking forward
to a fine finish. Coach George Bob
by says he has hopes that this team
will be playing as the eastern rep
resentative of the Commonwealth
Campuses in the invitation tourn
ament to be held at University Park
on March I and 2. This is a show
down between the two teams select
ed as eastern and western represent
atives of the Commonwealth Camp
uses.
Consistent fine playing by Irv Car
ter, “Blade” Q’Donnel I, Bob Stoffa,
Jim Van Horn, and George Kubica
has produced this season’s worthy
<;[
record. Highacre’s versatile back
up men, Dave Searfoss, Joe Ligen
za, Len Shebosky, Rick Kantor, John
Barletta, and Tom Sterba have also
aided in making the team’s season
successful. Coach Bobby feels the
squad has great initiative and is
working hard with its rugged sched
ule plus two to three practices per
week. “I am very pleased with the
team’s overall attitude and con
duct,” he reported, “but my biggest
disappointment has been the lack of
enthusiasm by the fans.” Mr. Bobby
believes that more appreciation and
support should be demonstrated by
the students although he realizes
that it is an impossibility for some
of our working students to make it
tn the games. The Collegian sin
cerely hopes to have your support
at the next game.
