~_, i :iti YN ~ d Pa rnassus, HIGHACRIS honor society, came into being in the school ' year 1951.-52 as a result of the work of the facultyts Student Welfare coMmittee. Five faculty members were appointed that year and the firit Parnassut Outstanding Fresh Man and S ophomore awards were presented at the Spring convocation. Parnassus now has approximately 80 members and 2 honorary members-the i latter trio were speahers at iniatian dinners. Prifesser Pearl. Garbriek serves as Si eulty advisor. The outstanding Freshman and Sophoptre awards mentioned above are Presented at Convocation to students deserving :this honor. The student body votes folthe outstanding students, and, from the ten highest nominees, the Parnatsus members vote for the two recipients, who receive a trophy and have their names engravedon SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS a plapue in the lobby of the main Building. Student Gov't. Association As an honor society, Oirnassus recognizes students for their scholastic achievements and for active participation in organized activities. It attempts to emrich student life at our campus:oV encouraging both academic study and extracurricular to better the morale within the campus abd tge prestige of the campus in the community. The schievements of outstanding students are recognized by the society by the issuance of invitations into Parnassus to the select few who measure up to the societies requirements each semester. If the invitations are accepted by the persons to whom they were given, these persons are formally initiated into the sQciety as members, and, if they are first semester students, as pledges, and will receive a gold key., A ' student is eligible for membership wth tit% fallowing qualifications: he has completed one or more as hers of *college work; lomigt.4lo6.awskek-aLltdadaux an-Aollege PARNASSUS FRESHMAN AUK EDITION average of 2.50. 3.-if he is active'in at least two activities, and 4.-if he has acqured at least five activity points for each semester.
