Behrend's THON campaign
kicked into high gear with 24
For a Cure. The 24-hour dance
marathon was held in Erie Hall
on Nov. 7.
"It went really well," said
THON Chair Carly Lapp, "we
didn't have as many as last
year. We had tons of food and
we got plenty of donations. It
was really hard to get through
it, but we had great moral for
all the people that did join us."
The event wasn't without set
backs though. "We actually had
a few dancers stay
home," said Lapp
"one had Swine
Flu. It ended up
dropping down to
15 to 20 dancers,
and a few other
dancers had to
leave."
Lapp also
spoke highly of the
volunteer support
"There were be
tween also 16 and
20 other volunteers
there," she said "a
lot of parents came
and helped. Molly's

parents came to help out. Jess
Durbin was the event planner,
and she did a great job, she set
up our agenda, for what we
were going to do."
Lapp said that Behrend had
increased their total donations
for 24FAC from around $1,300
last year to $1,733.53 this year.
The total for this fundraising
season is about $6,200, after
only a month of fundraising.
We have four confirmed
dancers that we will have on
the floor throughout whole 46
hours," said Lapp "we really
want to strive to get more peo
ple to go this year, for as big as
our campus is, we really only
had this itty bitty crowd in the
stands last year, and we really
want to get a lot more to come,
so Behrend actually represents
the campus size we are. We can
send as many as we please, as
long as we get those people in
side, that's all that counts. We
just want Behrend to actually
stand up and represent what
size campus we are, since we're
so big."
The main event of THON, a
marathon dance at University
Park, takes place Feb 19-21.
