Friday, September 26, 2008 Meet the SGA candidates Freshmen Senator Candidates Name: John Campbell Major: Accounting Platform: I believe I would make a great Freshman Senator because I am depend able, approachable, and a diligent worker. I believe the best way to lead is to lead by example. I will do my best as a Senator in SGA, and will continue to do my best throughout my term. As a Senator I : would ensure that I would consider any and all suggestions made by my peers and fellow students. I will try my best to make this campus and this college live up to its potential. Name: Nyok John Major: Biology Platform: I am running for the Senate because I want to serve the Penn State family here on and off campus. It is my intention to serve because ever since I came to this campus, I noticed that noth ing seems to change for the better. I talk to a lot of students here on campus and they tell me their problems are never heard. Therefore, I am going to be their voices. Students need more lockers here on campus. Students are com plaining about road traffic that becomes more congested. I will take your voices with me to the Senate if you vote for me. Name: Lauren Restich Major: International Business Platform: If elected to Senator, I will represent the freshmen well by being everybody’s voice on campus issues. I am a strong public speaker, very organ ized, I possess leadership skills, easy to talk to and a good listener. I’ve attend ed every SGA meeting this school year and was on the Student Council in high school, along with the newspaper staff, soccer team, and officer in Students Against Destructive Decisions Currently, I am an active member in LEB, THON, Blue and White Society, and Intramural Sports. Senator will give me an opportunity to bring aware ness to students about what is happening in our school. Behrend is an ever changing community and stu dents must play a vital part in helping to guide this change. When elected, I will represent my peers through my contributions to the SGA Senate and its com mittees. I believe that a single person, as dedicated as I am, can make a dif ference. Name: Caleb Rodgers Major: Finance Semester Standing: Sophomore Platform: If I were to be elected Upperclassmen Senator, I would do every thing in my power to maintain the high standards and flawless reputation of Behrend. I would do my best to get each and every student involved and to reach out to students struggling to get their feet on the ground. As an Upperclassmen Senator, I will work to show all that is Penn State through clubs, organizations, academics, and the overall atmos phere that welcomes Behrend’s students and demonstrates the morals and values of the college. Name: Amanda Schifko Major: Political Science Semester Standing: Sophomore Platform: As a Senator, I plan to effec tively help each and every student with all of their needs. I plan to fully represent the student body no matter what the cause or concern may be. To me, no issue is too big or to small for me to handle when it comes to the student body of Penn State Behrend. Club Re Candidates Name: The Lion Entertainment Board Platform: As the principle programming body of the campus, the members of the Lion Entertainment Board believe that we would bring a large, well represented voice to SGA. Consisting of over 70 members and a large source of contacts thanks to our weekly movies and events each weekend, the LEB would be a great, easily recognizable source for students to come to with campus concerns and input.
