The men's basketball team reached one of their
goals in upsetting Lake Erie last week, but a let
down loss to Frostburg State two days later, left the
guys down and disappointed. With Mt. Aloysius
coming to town, the boys knew that they could not
give up another loss.
Led by senior Kevin Buczynski's 24 points,
Behrend cruised to a 98-54 victory over Mt.
Aloysius. Junior Tom Newman was a major spark
in the Behrend offense, grabbing 18 points. Also
adding to the scoring attack was sophomore Adam
Kaiser with 12 points, senior Dan Zeigler with 11
points, and senior David Gahan with 10 points.
Zeigler also grabbed eight rebounds for Behrend.
Junior Tom Newman has helped Behrend to a 14-4 record.

In November, Behrend was upset by Mt.
Aloysius 74-66, giving the boys some motivation
going into Wednesday’s game. “We had a great
week of practice and were prepared for Mt.
Aloysius. The loss against Frostburg State was
rough, but we are back on the right track,” says
Buczynski.
With the win, Behrend improved to 14-4 and 8-3
in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference
(AMCC), leaving them tied for first place with
Lake Erie. Even though Behrend already beat Lake
Erie, they know that Lake Erie can pass them in the
standings if they slip up again. “We still have a lot
of tough games left, so we are going to keep having
great practices and take it one game at a time,” says
Buczynski.
The next game for the boys is against Pitt-
Greensberg Saturday, Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. at the Junker
Center. Earlier in the season, Behrend
was defeated by Pitt-Greensberg 57-53 in
a wire-to-wire contest in Greensberg, Pa.
Even though the previous meeting
between the two teams was almost two
months ago, Behrend has not forgotten
the hurt from losing that game. “We lost
to them earlier in the season in a game
that we should have won. It is the same
deal with Mt. Aloysius. We are not going
to overlook Pitt-Greensberg and take care
of business on Saturday,” says
Buczynski.
Currently, Pitt-Greensberg is ranked
No. 3 in the AMCC. Behrend knows that
if they want to stay in first in the AMCC,
they are going to have to take care of the
pesky teams like Frostburg State and Pitt-
Greensberg. “If we keep playing like we
did against Lake Erie and Mt. Aloysius,
we should be ok for the rest of our sched
ule,” says Buczynski.

Northern Colorado.
On Oct. 27, Behrend lost to Cal 7-6 in overtime
at the Igloo Ice Arena in Erie. Though the loss was
a tough one to take, the team believes that the out
come this time could be in favor of Behrend. “We
know that we can beat this team, it is just going to
take that little extra stride to get it done. We also
need to stay out of the box against Cal, who has an

twice in their home tournament back in October.
Even though Behrend will be the underdogs in this
game, they have confidence that they will be victo
rious this time around. “We are definitely fired up
for this game. We got a few seniors playing their
last home game for Behrend, so we want to send
them out on a good note," says Duchini. The puck
