The 2001 Behrend United Way Campaign began on
October 10 and will take place for three weeks. This year's
goal is set at $35, 000. Faculty, staff, and students will be
soliciting for donations.
The United Way also hopes that donors will contribute extra
money to "The September 11 Fund," hoping to provide all
needed resources to New York, Washington, D.C., and
Somerset County. All money raised goes to the fund.
The United Way funds 39 agencies that support programs
that help children, families, and seniors, among many other
Behrend janitors will be picking up outdated GTE and Talk
ing Phone Books in the upcoming weeks. All funds received
from the recycling will be used for the Food Bank; the books
themselves will be recycled into insulation.
Please place all old phone books next to your trash receptacle.

Sand Mountain, a play by Romulus Linney, will be presented in the Studio
Theatre, on October 26, 27, 30, 31 and November 1,2, and 3 at 8 p.m., and
October 28 and November 4 at 2:30 p.m.
The play features two parts, Sand Mountain Matchmaking and Why The Lord
Came To Sand Mountain. In the first part, Rebecca, played by Jeanine Noce, is
sought after by four males all attempting to win her heart to hold her hand in
marriage.
In the second half, The Lord and Saint Peter visit an unwed couple with
14 children.
Tony Elliot directs Sand Mountain.
On Tuesday, October 23, the Student Bookstore in the Reed Union Building will
be holding "Apple Tuesday." Students can bob for apples to receive a 10 per-
cent discount coupon. Larger discounts can be won
