Men's water polo wins
second game of season

The Behrend water polo team recently competed in the
Grove City Invitational and upped their record to 2-8. The
Lions lost the first game of the tournament to Slippery
Rock 10-1.
"We did not play up to expectations," said coach Josh
Heynes. "We ran with this team a week earlier, but this
time we could not get any offense to work."
Behrend also lost its second game to Gannon 20-8.
Again, the Lions just could not get anything to go their
way offensively.
The Lions beat Mercyhurst 19-5 in game three for their
second win of the season.
"It was expected and it was nice to be able to play around
with the line up and get everyone involved," said Heynes.
Behrend fell to Grove City 14-10, in the fourth game,
but Heynes was pleased with their play.
"It was our best game of the season, because we played
a solid four quarters," he said. "I will say it over and
over... we were just robbed. The referees were terrible,
given the calls were inconsistent and unfair. The table

was awful with the clocks. I know it sounds like an ex
cuse, but we had them on the ropes.
"Grove City came into the game thinking we were go
ing to be a push over. In the pre-game the entire team was
fooling around. We gave them a game the entire time, but
things would just not go our way. We play them again
this weekend and the Lions are ready and we know that
we will beat them."
One standout player is Andrew Hanhauser, who is now
four goals away from the team record. He has also tied
the assists record. Jon Harding finally was able to put the
ball in the cage more. Goalie Robb Christensen is also
shining. He has smashed the saves record and has played
very well given he is a freshman.
This weekend is the CWPA tournament at Washington
& Jefferson. Behrend plays Grove City in an enticing
rematch, and then they play Mercyhurst.
"Our minds are set on winning against Grove City,"
said Heynes, "and we know we can beat Mercyhurst.
"Our preparations will be the same. We are staying
over fall break and going two three-hour sessions on Mon
day and Tuesday. Next weekend is just Division 111
schools. We have played W & J and Grove City, but not
the other Division 111 teams. We are very excited that we
are playing schools
of our caliber and
know that we will
have a pretty good
showing in the end,"
