A Closer Look
OBSERVATORY DEDICATION
The new Mehalso Observatory will be officially dedicated on
Tuesday, April 17, at 5:30. Those attending will gather in room
114 of the Science Building
The Mehalso Observatory was funded through a gift from Rob
ert and Elizabeth Mehalso and their family. Mr. Mehalso at
tended Behrend in 1961 and 1962.
The Observatory features a four-foot-long refracting telescope
with a seven-inch diameter lens. Also included is a CCD that
will record and save pictures from the telescope.

Dr. Warren Williams,
assistant professor of physics and astronomy, will lecture on
"TARGET EARTH, WITH A TRIBUTE TO
ASTRONOMER CARL SAGAN"
The Earth is constantly bombarded with asteroids what are
the potential consequences of large scale collisions? Are they
preventable? Also, astronomer Carl Sagan has had a huge
impact on the study of astronomy.
Astronomical observation may follow.
