A rainy day makes for a dry Cider Rock by Jermaine Hardy features co-editor If you are reading this, you are more than likely a student of Penn State Behrend, and if you are a student of Penn State Behrend, chances are you weren't at this year's Cider Rock fes tival. The festival held this past Sat urday resulted in an extreme lack of attendance. It was scheduled to he held in the apartment quad but due to bad weather, it was relocated to the Reed Commons. "The decision to move it down to Reed had a significant impact on the amount of attendance," said Patrick Kiley co-founder of the annual Cider Rock festival. The lack of attendance at this year's Cider Rock was a dis appointment, not only to its sponsors and coordinators, but also to the three bands and the few students who did actually come out. "I was both sur prised and disappointed," said Kiley. The festival started at 5 p.m. with activities held inside and outside of the Reed Commons. Some of these activities were Lawrence Hall Council's face painting, Alpha Sigma Tau's apple bobbing contest and Theta Phi's "Throw a pie at a Theta Phi," which gave students the opportunity to vent out their stresses by throwing "Them's Fightin' Words" at the Studio Theatre Actors in Ten Little Indians rehearse a fight scene in preparation for opening day Fantasy sports are lanlastic by Karl Benacci features co-editor Have you ever wondered what would happen if Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson played for the same team? Although there weren't many students to participate in these various activities, one ma jor attraction of the festival was the climbing wall, which gave students the opportunity to put their wall climbing skills to the test on an air filled wall of approximately 2 sto ries high. Along with free food and other activities, 102.3 The Point FM provided music and gave away CDs outside of the Reed Building. All an indi vidual needs to do is 1) Log-on to a website that has fantasy sports and register, 2) Choose which fantasy sport they'd like to participate in (sometimes a certain sport is un available due to it being out of sea son), and 3) Choose what type of league you'd like to be in. (Differ ent leagues have different rules and regulations.) After all that is done, individuals can draft their players, and when the season starts (if it hasn't already be gun), they can do anything from trading players to choosing their starters. In fact the performances were pretty good. It suffices to say that if there were an audience present, they would have enjoyed themselves. How ever, the lack of attendance got so pa thetic that the last band "Freudian Slip" who was scheduled to perform at 10 p.m., didn't perform at all. It was de cided after "Fat Vinny and the Wise Guys" performed that "Freudian Slip," should not perform, ending the entire festival at approximately 10 p.m. "It was a tough decision," said Kiley. "It was astronomical last year compared to this year," stated Kiley.
