commented head coach Rich

“A very young ‘aerobic animal’,”
is how Track & Field Coach Rich
Hoffman describes sophomore
Dennis Halaszynski. Dennis runs
the 3000 meter steeplechase. This is
almost a two mile run with twenty
eight hurdles and seven water barriers
and water jumps.
In the first meet at Clarion
University, Dennis ran the grueling
3000 m steeplechase in approximately
ten minutes and fourty-seven
seconds. This placed Dennis in the top
five runners competing. In the second
meet at Geneva College, Dennis
unproved his time to approximately
ten minutes and twenty-four seconds.
That is about twenty-four seconds
improvement from the first race at
Clarion to the second race at Geneva.
Coach Hoffman concluded by
saying “he is a very dedicated year
round trainer, a good example of the
committment and dedication needed
to excel, and it is begining to payoff
for Dennis.”

Their week started out with
PUt Bradfbrd. The Behrend
women werevictorious in both
games. The score of the first
game was 11-3 and the second

contributed three hits with a
homerun and a triple. Heidt,
Blass, and Fox contributed four
hits.
On April 1, the women battled
Pitt-Greensburg in a double
header. Once again, the team was
victourious in both games. The

and 16-1 in the second. For a
change of pace, freshman Emily
Heidt pitched nine out of the ten
innings played and picked up four
strikeouts. Heidt, Haney, Bodnor,
Woods and Blass all contributed
two hits apiece, and Leslie Miller
went three for three.
The Lions will compete next at
